How to transform your bathroom for under $1000

DIY Full Bathroom Makeover On A Budget: Today I will show you how I transformed this bathroom from top to bottom using basic tools and a small budget of $100...

We designed and transformed this bathroom from top to bottom using basic tools and a small budget of $1000.

We were challenged by Home Depot Canada to take this bathroom and give it a full makeover for less than $1000. We were up for a good and creative challenge.

This Toronto based apartment needed a fresh and well designed bathroom to suit our client’s lifestyle.

As a Toronto based residential interior design company with an extremely tight budget, we knew it is best to keep it simple but chic. We opted in for a layered and clean design approach for the bathroom to feel as large as possible.

Before…

This is the status of the bathroom we had on hand, it had some elements that we could re-use, and other elements needed to be gone!

So, before getting started on your bathroom redesign/ makeover project, you have to assess the current status of your space. Start by taking photos of the space and getting rid of what you don’t like or want to use.

1. Create a Concept:

Our concept and focus is to bring in relaxing tones and finishes throughout the space but still make the bathroom have a bold and fun vibe to it.

We decided to layer in patterns and finishes for a retreat like feel.

2. Create a Shopping List:

Before you start ripping your bathroom apart, create an itemized shopping list and generate a subtotal to see if it is within your budget or way out of it.

Here are the items used in this bathroom makeover:

- Flooring

- Wallpaper

- Wall Sconce (got it from The Home Depot): Article #1001484817

- Mirror

- Moen Shower Head

- Paint: Behr "Seacliff" - which is the blue used for the door

- We made all the art! you can see the process on Instagram: Jude's Instagram

3. Get to Work:

Once you have your list ready, shop your dream items and start prepping your space, you will notice how we prepared and clean the bathroom before starting any installation (see video )

Our design advice to you is:

Keep it simple, and incorporate 1-2 accent colours max. especially if the space is small.

Keep your ceilings light so your bathroom feels bigger and your ceilings appear to be higher!
